Abstract: The use of psychotropic substances such as MDMA or LSD in the context of psychotherapy is a very intriguing challenge. This presentation will describe the prerequisites for patient and therapist, the nature of the healing process, psychological mechanisms involved, setting issues, and the use of therapeutic tools such as music or bodywork, as well as the integration of the psychedelic experiences.
Peter Oehen, MD attended medical school at University of Basel, Switzerland. He received his Specialist degree in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in 1988, and has psychotherapeutic training in Guided Affective Imagery Therapy, Systemic Couple and Family Therapy, and Psycholytic Therapy. In private practice since 1988, Dr. Oehen has had a special interest in altered states of consciousness and psychedelic substances for more than 25 years. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Swiss Medical Association for Psycholytic Therapy (SAePT).
